In trawling through a thread on NeoGAF from a couple of months ago, GoNintendo spotted something that demands all of our attention. GAF user mehdi_san, known for uploading scans of all sorts of interesting Nintendo knick-knacks, contributed the above, which appears to be concept art for a chicken suit power-up inNew Super Mario Bros. Wii.
I don’t know if Nintendo thought that one flightless bird power-up was enough and decided to just stick with the penguin suit, but this seems like a grave oversight. Just imagine the possibilities for this. Maybe you could throw eggs, similar to Yoshi inYoshi’s Island. Perhaps you could have a very limited glide. Or maybe, just maybe, the only power would be that looking up in a rainstorm results in drowning.
Such a shame. What abilities would the chicken suit have granted you?
