For NES games, though

[Update:During the direct, Nintendo posted the news about these d-pads to its Twitter account and a confusing bit of wording has come up. Apparently, these controllers will only be available to paying customers of Nintendo’s online service and for $60, to boot. That seems like missing a real opportunity.]

After reiterating a bunch of info about Nintendo Switch Online, Nintendo showed off a brand new gamepad for the Switch. I use new liberally because it is just a recreation of the NES gamepad for use with the NES library on Switch. Just look at that header…what am I even looking at?

Sadly, it doesn’t look like these controllers will be useful for other Switch titles, but I guess the Switch does have a proper d-pad now. Maybe indie games will benefit from it, though.

#NintendoSwitchOnlinewill feel even more authentic by using the new wireless NES style controllers with the classic#NESgames, available for purchase exclusively for paid Nintendo Switch Online members!
