Getting further and further from Unity
Plenty of publishers are high on the second screen experience, but Ubisoft’s coming down from that — well, at least a little. The next installment in theAssassin’s Creedfranchise won’t come paired with a companion app of any sort.
According toGamesRadar+, Ubisoft confirmed the omission of a second screen feature forAssassin’s Creed Syndicate, saying that the developers wanted to focus on the “core experience.” The decision is reasonable given the troubles thatUnityhad last year with its companion app.

In fact, this news is indicative of the ways in which Ubisoft wants to separateSyndicatefromUnityin a broader sense.Unitysuffered from the weight of the sheer breadth of everything it tried to accomplish.Syndicateseems as if it’ll be a more focused game, as Ubisoft has already stated it won’t contain a multiplayer aspect. The publisher seems intent on targeting the singleplayer campaign, which will hopefully make for a more polished product.
