You’re probably sick of seeing clips ofLate Night with Jimmy Fallonon theDtoidfrontpage, but I can guarantee this one tops ’em all.
Regular watchers of Fallon’s show of course know that the in-house band is none other than the world famous hip hop troupe The Roots. On a recent episode, an audience member suggested that they drop lyrics over theSuper Mario Bros.theme song. Black Thought, frontman for The Roots, happily obliged this request.
The backing track isn’t actually theMariotheme — I figure they wish to avoid any sort of legal snafu — but never mind that. From the opening shout out to Shigeru Miyamoto, Black Thought brings ithard. I said, “DAMN!”
(Okay, so he says “Daisy” instead of “Pauline” when talking aboutDonkey Kong. Chalk it up to creative license.)
