Terrariareleased one day in Mayto the wide world of PC gaming. When it came out, many claimed it to be a two-dimensional version ofMinecraft. To an extent, that is correct. The game offers a much more adventure filled sense, in my opinion, combiningMinecraftwith the exploratory nature of something likeMetroidorCastlevaniaon a pretty, retro-looking 2D world.

Today, the latest and greatest patch has been released. Patch 1.1 is heralded as being the largest content update for the game to date. Many details about it have been kept hidden, leaving the community to discover everything after launch. That said, some video footage and images were released to whet the interest of players.

A new lighting engine was confirmed on the technical side of things, as well as improved terrain generation. There will also be a new hard mode, which can supposedly only be unlocked by taking revenge upon the guide NPC, and then defeating a boss made of leftover body parts. The boss is confirmed to be able to puke up worms, and shoot lasers from its eyes. Other confirmed features include female-looking female avatars, NPC housing control interfaces, and piping. Also, something called a “Megashark.”

On the more vague side, there will be 39 new monsters, 3 new NPCs, and 222 new items to forge and collect. The trailer above has lead to a large list of speculated additions leading up to the patch. you may read the speculation ontheTerrariawiki, and you can read the newly released patch notes onthe officialTerrariawebsite. Finally, the game is 75% offon Steamtoday.
