All eyes may be on PAX this weekend, but at the IFA consumer electronics fair in Berlin, Sony CEO Kaz Hirai gave some insight into the company’s plans for the mobile market.

According to the Financial Times, the electronics giant is ready to get serious about mobile gaming. The reason?Pokémon Go.

“Pokémon Gois a real game-changer,” Hirai told FT reporterMadhumita Murgia.“I’m very interested in the fact that it has the potential to really change the way people move, literally.”

Though interest in it may bestarting to wane,Pokémon Go‘s success this summer cannot be ignored. In just two months on the market, the free-to-play phenomenon has made more than$440 million. That’s a lot of lures.

With Sony’s September event just three days away, it’ll be interesting to see if it announces anything for its mobile initiative. If anything is announced, it will probably come from ForwardWorks, a subsidiary Sony opened earlier this year to focus exclusively on the mobile market and how it can bring popular PlayStation properties to smart devices.
