Extra or Advanced?
In what has been a fun week for SNK fans, given new news concerningtheKoFanimeand an all-new title starringthe company’s badass ladies, HAMSTER have also gone and released Neo Geo classicThe King of Fighters ’98on PS4 and Xbox One.
KoF ’98is one of the most regularly revisited games in theKoFfranchise. Coming as a stop gap between the series’ Orochi Saga and interminable NESTS story arc,KoF ’98was a “Dream Match” title, featuring almost all of the characters that had been playable in the series up to that point. So if you wanted that Blue Mary vs Brian Battler fight to happen, you got it, buddy.
It should, however, be noted that this release is a straight up dump ofKoF ’98sarcade version. It isn’t the revamped and optimisedKoF ’98: Ultimate Match, that was made previously available on PC, Xbox 360 and PS2, and featured training modes and online play.
King of Fighters ’98is available now on PS4 and Xbox One, priced at $8. The game has also previously been released on Nintendo Switch.
