I’ll be the first to say that I don’t like survival horror. I’m a tiny little girl. Even my avatar scares me. That being said, I can’t figure out why I’m so stoked aboutSadness, from Polish developerNIBRIS. Details up until now have been scant, and I had kind of forgotten about it until this sick concept art showed up onNGCFrance.
This game is going to be creepy, as you can tell. Either this woman above is cutting her hair, or stabbing herself in the frontal lobe — either way, I’m getting a seriousSamaravibe. The devs are saying that this game isn’t for theweak of heart, and requires you to be 21 before entering the game’s website.

For those of you who don’t know,Sadnesstakes place in the Balkans on the eve of World War I, and centers around a woman and her narcoleptic son. It, according to NIBRIS, will deal with schizophrenia and nyctophobia (fear of the dark).
The game is supposed to be in black and white, but there also seems to be a great deal of color in that shot of the roses. I can’t imagine this stark contrast not being significant. As is NIBRIS’ usual M.O., we’re just going to have to speculate, since they’re not telling us much. So, check the gallery for some new images and hit the jump for theSadnesstrailer, in case you missed it.
