Boy, videogame PR people must hate musicians — they just can’t keep their mouths shut. Nearly three months ago,The Offspring jumped the gunon aRock BandDLC announcement, listing six songs that still haven’t appeared on the Rock Band Music Store. Now, it seems that Slash — guitarist of Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver, andGuitar Hero IIIboss battle participant — has preemptively spilled the beans on a futureGuitar Herogame focused around rock pioneer Jimi Hendrix.
In an interview inRolling Stone,Slash was askedaboutGuitar Hero:
I talked to Steven Tyler recently and he said you were a big inspiration forGuitar Hero: Aerosmith. He called me about it before they did it and I was like, “You gotta do it.” It’s cool actually ’cause I was the first real face on that game, and it’s sort of taken on a life of its own.
As the original guy do you feel more invested in the game?Well, having the Aerosmith guys do it was very cool ’cause Aerosmith’s one of the bands I was heavily influenced by. And Metallica’s doing it, that’s great. Those are two ones that I think gives it some credibility. And they’re doing a Hendrix one, which is great.

We’ve unofficially known for a while now thatGuitar Hero: Metallicais coming sometime next year. And Hendrix himself will be aplayable characterin the upcomingGuitar Hero World Tour(the game will also feature two of his songs, in addition to81 others). But this is the first we’ve heard of aGuitar Hero: Aerosmithanalog featuring the legendary live-fast-die-young guitarist. Are youready to beexperiencedin the music of Jimi Hendrix?
