Here’s some funky new artwork though
WayForward has announced that its remaster ofRiver City Girls Zerowill unfortunatelynotmeet its intended 2021 release window. In a statement posted to Twitter, the developer announced that the knuckle-dustin’ 16-bit adventurewould now arriveon Nintendo Switch in early 2022; whether this will further delay platform ports is unknown.
River City Girls Zerois a fully localized remaster of 1994 Super Famicom release Super Famicom titleShin Nekketsu Koha: Kunio-tachi no Banka, which was the first title in theKunio-kunfranchise to spotlightRCGheroes Misako and Kyoko. The remaster will feature a fully-translated edition of the original game in all of its modest glory, along with a selection ofcute, manga-stylecinematic sequences and a brand new title track courtesy of the excellentMegan McDuffee.

As a little spark of positivity to go alongside the delay news, WayForward released new artwork for the remaster, which reformats the originalSShin Nekketsu Koha: Kunio-tachi no Bankaboxart with modern forms of heroes Kyoko and Misako, along withKunio-kunveterans Kunio and Riki. Everybody’s lookin’ mighty retro, with Kyoko sporting her now trademark baseball bat!
