Only a couple of weeks ago inLeague of Legends, everyone’s favourite pirate Gangplank got a fresh coat of paint and some changes to how he played. He played well, he looked even better (Riot does love its fanservice), but now he’s dead.
He’s fucking dead and is no longer playable. Riot has disabled Gangplank from the entire game, even for those who have paid for him or any of his skins. If you main as him, you’re simply shit out of luck. This all ties in to the ongoing story between Gangplank and Miss Fortune, and unfortunately it looks like she’s got the upper hand.
A champion being removed fromLeagueis unheard of, and has never been done in the history of the series. It’s also one of the few times an ongoing story has directly impacted the game in such a major way.
We all know he’s coming back though. Riot is currently refusing to refund anyone who has bought him or the skins,and is hintingwe will know Gangplank’s true fate in the next few days:
“Champion death is unprecedented inLeague of Legends, and we do not take it lightly. We encourage all Gangplank fans to remain calm for a few days until we can fully assess the situation. At this time,we are not addressing refund requests for him or his skinsbut please know that over the next several days we’ll do our best to make things right for everyone.”
