The definition of a long tail
We’ve been reporting on the worldwide shortages ofRing Fit Adventurefor months now, but it seems like demand has hit an all-time high due tothe “social distancing” suggestionas a way to help combat the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In other words, exercising at home is the only option for a lot of quarantined countries.
Stock is so low now that even the US has been impacted, andNintendo has confirmed to Polygon directlythat “theRing Fit Adventuregame is selling out at various retail locations in the Americas…we are working to provide more units as soon as possible and apologize for any inconvenience.” It’s not just demand that’s being impacted by COVID-19, but potentially, future supply.

Having picked the game up at launch, I’m more than happy with it, especially given the current situation. If you do own a Switch and manage to come across one, it might be worth a shot. It’s gotten so popularthat it was just featured inSuper Smash Bros., and our own communityhas been sharing their success stories.
