During today’s Tokyo Game Show 2022presentation, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed thatResident Evil 4that the team had been looking into ways to bringRE4to previous generation hardware. Because of that,Resident Evil 4is now also in development for PS4. He doesn’t mention Xbox One though, so it seems like that console’s left off the list for now, at least.

Back in the saddle again
TheResident Evil 4remake is the latestREremake from Capcom. It’s set to re-tell the events of Leon Kennedy’s rescue of the president’s daughter, in what’s likely one of the most well-remembered entries in theResident Evilseries.
RE4was long-rumored to be in development when it was finally revealedback in June, and it’s not a long wait until it’s out, either. Capcom has locked in a July 19, 2025 release date forResident Evil 4.

The studio is also planning on PlayStation VR 2 content. It’s likely we’ll see more of what it has planned forRE4in particular at next month’sResident Evilshowcase. But with this news, at least PlayStation 4 owners won’t have to upgrade immediately to experience Leon’s adventure in new detail all over again.
