When it comes to loot variety and uniqueness,Remnant 2is easily one of the best games in its niche. All the weapons, armor pieces, and other goodies are unique, but some of them are just better than others. That’s why a tier list ofRemnant 2weapons is necessary.

Well, “necessary” is perhaps too strong of a word: the vast majority ofRemnant 2‘s weapons will function just fine in most of the game’s content. If you see yourself pushing towards the hardest possible difficulty and min-maxing the heck out of your gear, however, then you’re not going to want to waste resources on meme-tier weapons.

To that end, what I’ve got for you below is a full and comprehensive tier list ofallof this game’s weapons separated by category. Ranging from the highest S-tier all the way down to D-tier, below you’ll find all the usableRemnant 2weapons organized by rank. I’ll give you some context as to how each of these weapon categories has been rated as well, but since there are dozens upon dozens of weapons inRemnant 2, talking about any particular one of them in significant detail would be far out of scope for a single article.

What do Remnant 2 weapon ranks mean?

S-tier

These weapons are the absolute best of the best. This is the type of armament that can carry you through challenging content without in-depth buildcrafting or even a major resource investment to make it work. S-tierRemnant 2weapons are often described as “overpowered,” and that’s frankly not without good reason.

A-tier

Remnant 2‘s A-tier weapons are still excellent and often build-defining, but they don’t quite deliver the same performance as their S-tier counterparts do. A-tier weapons aren’tusuallybest-in-slot, but they will get you through all of the game’s content without making things extremely difficult for you, and they’re often not even hard to unlock. Most S-tier weapons are, on the other hand, basically end-game loot.

B-tier

B-tier weapons inRemnant 2are usually build-dependent. More specifically, they can dominate the majority ofRemnant 2‘s content, but they might depend on interactions or synergies with other pieces of kit, which makes them a tiny bit more complicated to use. Whereas you might be able to just pull out an A or S-tier weapon, B-tier weapons will make you work more to run them properly.

C-tier

C-tierRemnant 2weapons are the ones that make progression somewhat challenging. They’re the gear that you use until you have something better to run, or require a massive investment for them to be anything other than situationally useful. You’ll be hard-pressed to keep using C-tier weapons in this game unless you really, reallyfind them enjoyable. If you do, it’s still usually possible to make them work.

D-tier

Finally, the lowest tier of weapons inRemnant 2are the ones found as D-tier listings. These are the weapons you should avoid using at any cost, unless you’re going for a novelty build or just playing around in the lower difficulties. D-tier weapons will be hard-pressed to keep up withRemnant 2‘s late-stage encounters, or even outright useless when push comes to shove.

Remnant 2 Long Gun tier list

Long Guns are the bread and butter of your damage-dealing potential inRemnant 2. These are your primary armaments, and though they’ll sometimes have some bonus utility thrown in for good measure, their number one goal is to make things die as quickly as possible.

It’s notable that Long Guns often come with integrated Mods that cannot be switched out. This isn’talwaysthe case, of course, but that does mean that starter weapons will be more flexible than rare boss drops, at the cost of having a lower overall damage potential. In practice, this results in a fairly reasonable ranking setup: weapons that are easily available can also be reasonably potent, but the heavy-hitters are usually rather hard to get.

Remnant 2 Handgun tier list

As one might expect,Remnant 2‘s Handguns areusuallythe support and backup options available to your character. You’re not going to use these as your primary choicefor the most part, and this is reflected in the fact that you won’t easily find a top-tier Handgun to begin with. Whereas there are almost half a dozen S-tier Long Guns, I feel only two Handguns qualify for this position.

The flip side of this predicament is that most Handguns aren’t bad, either. You’ll find them sitting firmly in the A and B ranks, and you should choose your Handgun to serve a niche that your Long Gun cannot contend with. The rule of thumb, in my experience, is to grab a fast-firing Handgun if you’ve got a slow and cumbersome Long Gun, or vice-versa. That way, you’ve got your encounters covered no matter what.

Remnant 2 Melee Weapon tier list

Finally, Melee Weapons are your go-to option for close-quarters combat inRemnant 2. With the ability to choose between high-damage, high-status, and pure utility options whenever you need them, Melee Weapons give you just the thing you need to stay alive when all the rest of your guns are empty. Or, if you opt for a throwing melee, you can use them instead of spending ammo willy-nilly!

Sadly, whereas most of the Handguns could be considered reasonably capable in their own right, melee options suffer from a shoddier balancing situation. Many of them are downright useless regardless of which mod you equip, and it won’t take long before you’re hard-pressed into choosing the more meta options of the bunch.
