BioShock Infinite flies away to March 26, so far away

It’s not like we are counting down the days or anything BioShock Infiniteis now set to be released on March 26 for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. Yeah, that’s an extra month of no totally awesome fun times withBioShock. Bummer. It seems Ken Levine cares more about making great games than he cares about getting them out on time. Before you start sending furious tweets at Levine, you should know that the real scumbag that cares too much about making quality products is new Irrational employee Rod Fergusson (previously senior producer onGears of War)....

Blizzard teases Hearthstone MMO for April Fools’

I’d play it Blizzard usually has the best April Fools’ joke, and they’re at it again with aHearthstone MMOpitch, complete with an over-the-top announcer that sounds like he’s selling cans of Surge in the 90s. It’s basically a mockup ofHearthstonemixed withWorld of Warcraftfootage, but the spokesperson sells it with phrases like “all new three dimensional game world.” It brings me back to when people used to yell “BLAST PROCESSING!” at me on a constant basis while trying to peddle me sugar....

Denis Dyack thinks Heavy Rain could be ‘fantastic’

OutspokenToo Humandeveloper Denis Dyackhas revealedthat he has high hopes for Quantic Dream’sHeavy Rain, believing that if it overcomes its potential pitfalls, it could be a brilliant title. “They’re really trying to break some of the uncanny valley issues that you find in video games,” he says. “I think what they appear to be striving for is really good. I don’t think that everyone should do that. I remember leaving the filmA Million Dollar Babyand thinking, that’s so emotionally riveting for me that I want to be able to create a video game that does the same thing....

ELSPA reacts positively to Manhunt 2 ban, but will be contacting BBFC

Paul Jackson, Director General of ELSPA has released a statement supporting the BBFC’s ever so slightly draconian treatment ofManhunt 2, in which he states: A decision from the BBFC such as this demonstrates that we have a games ratings system in the UK that is effective. It shows it works and works well. Any decision the BBFC takes, it takes on the basis of its remit to rate on screen entertainment....

Hearthstone plays just as great on the iPad

It’s my preferred platform As a general rule, I don’t play a game excessively during its beta stage. I don’t particularly like getting invested in something that may utterly change after the full release, andHearthstoneis no exception. Although I dabbled in its beta for coverage purposes, I didn’t really get into it until the final build, and now I can’t stop playing. While I was trucking along on PC for some time, my new addiction isthe iPad build, which is basically a 1:1 port that allows cross-platform play by way of Battle....

Injustice story trailer: Batman and friends smash it up

This city needs a better class of button-masher Expectations are set high forInjustice: Gods Among Us‘ story mode after the yet-to-be- topped campaign ofMortal Kombat(2011)— sorry,Persona 4 Arenafans! So, I’m very excited to see what NetherRealm Studios pulls off here and this trailer has me hopeful. Aside from some lifeless voice acting, I love the bombast on display here. I mean, it’s DC Comics’ greatest heroes and villains going against each other while armies tear down cities, so why shouldn’t it be the most ridiculously grandiose thing ever?...

Kojima says he isn’t into making horror games at the moment because they scare him

I get it I don’t think I’ve had a nightmare in the past five years or so. Occasionally I hear stories of people waking up terrified (one involved a clown that chased my friend through a city, ripped off the top of a building, and yelled “I’m in control of your dream now”), but it hasn’t happened to me in a while. I get it though, as folks like HR Giger used to have horrific dreams that led to the creation of works of art likeAlien, and the same goes for Hideo Kojima — but that’s something he wants to move away from....

Luigi the Kaiju in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team

And an anecdote about 3DS demo girls Funny thing about the 3DS demo stations at this year’s and last year’s E3: they were mobile. And I don’t mean they were attached to rolling podiums. Nintendo hired a bunch of girls to walk around the floor with 3DS units fastened via bungee cords to their waist. It is a most bizarre practice. I’m explaining this to you because I spent close to 20 minutes playingMario & Luigi: Dream Teamon one device while another dude played a second device, both attached to the same girl, and we were all shuffling along in tandem since the other dude was simultaneously in a line for something else....
