Justice to be served? Lawsuit filed against EA for exclusivity agreements

For years, gamers have loathed EA Sports’ exclusivity agreements for football videogames. Currently, EA is the only publisher that can make a game that uses the NFL, NCAA, or AFL (arena football) licenses. They’re going to keep that stranglehold on the industry for a while, too; earlier this year, theyextended their exclusivity agreement with the NFLthrough 2012. Well, it looks like two fans of football videogames decided to to try and put an end to EA’s monopoly by having the District Court for the Northern District of California lay down the law....

I hope a lot of those updates are free One day many years ago, I went into Starbucks with a friend. With a suggested price of ?180 Sony has announced thePlayStation Vita Slimfor the UK following the model’s release in Japan last year. This thinner, lighter system will be available in black on February 7 for £180, which is a higher price than some of us were anticipating considering the move away from the original PS Vita’s OLED screen to a less-desirable LCD display. And no extra colors? Darn. There’s still no specifics on a launch in the US, but if the pricing is consistent with what’s been announced here, I’m not interested....

Man on Internet says things in ‘saying things’ SHOCKER! Rememberthat guy who saidMicrosoft’s Xbox division cannot be sustained by the company? Well, here comes another analyst with the same suggestion, going so far as to believe rival Sony could acquire the brand. Them’s some damning words! “The entertainment division will be spun off, sold to someone like Sony or possibly Barnes & Noble, or dramatically reduced in size,”said Forbes’Adam Hartung. “Unable to make a profit it will increasingly be seen as a distraction to the battle for saving Windows — and Microsoft leadership has long shown they have no idea how to profitably grow this business unit....
