The studio is moving back one project so it can get another out the door Embark Studios recently confirmed it was pushing back one of its titles,ARC Raiders. Alongside the reasoning it gave, the company also shed some light on its future production plans, including a game that it plans to have out ahead ofARC Raiders. In ablog post, Embark CEO and founder Patrick Söderlund discussed theARC Raidersdelay. As the studio confirmed, the co-op shooterwon’t be launching until next year....

We noteda couple months backthat composer Yuzo Koshiro had dumped the retro-flavored FM synthesis that he employed for pastEtrian Odysseytitles in favor of a live recorded soundtrack featuring everything from woodwinds and brass to strings and live percussion. There were three samples up on thegame’s websiteat that time, but there’s something new if you check now. Not only are the three previous samples elongated to their entire length, but there’s a fourth a sample, a battle theme, that takes a more energetic approach with brass, electric guitar, and percussion....

Lo-fi Firefly When it comes to pixel art, there is good stuff and there is bad stuff. Recently launched onKickstarter,Wandererfalls easily into the former category. I just love the look of the pixelated characters on the more painterly backgrounds. On paper it doesn’t sound like it should work, but it does. Of course, there’s more toWandererthan just its look, and the rest looks intriguing as well. It has a role-playing game-style battle system with platforming elements incorporated into the exploration....

Final Fantasy XIVhas added a lot of new gear inDawntrail, which is understandable with its brand-new expansion and increased level cap. However, none of the gear is more coveted than the level 96 Gomphotherium sets. These items are selling for upwards of 100k Gil each on the Marketboard, presumably being purchased by people who want to live their best Mad Max life, but they’re actually not that hard to get. There is one particular vendor who sells all of the sets for every class at a much lower price – you just need to reach them....

They’re not, like, miniature die-cast cars or anything Hot Wheels? I’ll admit it — I got slightly excited. Those plastic orange tracks were my jam as a kid. ButForza Motorsport 5‘sHot Wheels Car Pack, the last of the monthly car packs for the game, is really just more real-world vehicles with branding slapped on the DLC. Well, you don’t see that every day. FOX News obviously has an N64 player among its ranks, and while it wouldn’t surprise me that the dinosaurs at FOX have only just discovered Nintendo’s 64-bit system, what does surprise me is the fact that they snuck some music fromThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Timeinto one of their stories. PAX East is taking place next weekend and bands such as Metroid Metal, Paul and Storm and Protomen will all be playing at the expo. Sadly, Freezepop won’t be at PAX East but seeing as how Boston is their hometown, the band will be holding a special show for their fans! Freezepop will be playing at Cafe 939 on March 27 at 4:00PM. The show is all-ages and will only cost you $10 to get in....

During a 2012 Game Developers Conference session, Koichi Hayashida of Nintendo EAD discussed elements ofSuper Mario 3D Landthat didn’t end up making it into the final version. “We must always consider ideas outside the normal range from what people expect from aMariogame,” he stated. “We must make others laugh with strange new ideas. We have to keep a feeling of joy in the development process.” According to Eurogamer, some of the more entertaining ideas that were cut include “Pro Skater Mario,” cockroach enemies that could be beaten by closing the 3DS, Mario with creepy long limbs, and a feature where the player could swap out Princess Peach’s face with a friends’....

Three new multiplayer maps will be available forHalo 3on December 11. The map pack is called the Heroic Map Pack and will go for 800 Points. Two of the maps sound really interesting. The on called Rat’s Nest is badly needed as there isn’t enough Big Team Battle maps (I love that mode). The map called Foundry, though, seems to be the winner here. Foundry is meant to be completely shaped by the player using Forge....

Obviously this needs to be addressed, but the ingenuity involved is crazy So this is new! Imagine for a second that you jump into a ranked game ofApex Legends, and you’re having a bit of fun. Suddenly, your teammate urges you into a specific area. “OK, I’ll follow their lead, if we split I’ll probably get teamshot” you say to yourself. Yep, sound decision. Then you’re teamshot anyway as your “teammate” sits idly by....

Team6 — the studio responsible for hits likeSunshine Beach VolleyballandPacific Liberation Force— have announcedGlacier2, a racing game for the Nintendo Wii. Glacier2is an over-the-top, arcade racer that pits players against the elements and each other. The game takes place in the Alps, so be prepared for plenty of icy encounters and power slides. It seems as though the game’s crux is built upon killing the other racers. Cars come equipped with an assortment of typically handheld weapon like sniper rifles and shotguns....
