Someone is using machine learning to remaster old ass Mega Man anime cutscenes

The Mega Man 8 and X4 intros are already done TheMega Manseries hosted some kick ass anime cutscenes, particularly during the original PlayStation era. Not all of themhad great English dubs, but I appreciate that studios went through the effort to animate cutscenes for video games: witnessingSonic CD‘s introfor the first time in-person blew me away. YouTuber VJ Ravenlight seemingly appreciates it too, and they’ve taken it upon themselves to actually restore these cutscenes to make them more relevant in this modern era....

Sony shutting down Vita RPG Destiny of Spirits

Just over a year, in-game currency ‘expiring’ Sony’s gotta-catch-’em-all Vita card gameDestiny of Spiritswill be shut down June 30. Apparently the “over one million downloads” were not enough to sustain the free-to-play Vita title and so Sony will be “ending service.” Destiny of Spiritsjust released last March. After June 30, you will not be able to access the game, or any of the in-game currency you might’ve purchased. That, too, will vanish, though Sony will still be selling the in-game currency until June 30 in the Americas and until the end of April in Europe and Asia....

Strafe is gunning for a March release date

No need to circle around this Strafe, the retro-themed throwback shooter and my personalmost anticipatedgame of 2017, is going to be available on March 28. Along with that information also comes absolute confirmation that the game is, indeed, procedurally generated. That kind of dampens my enthusiasm, but I do love old-school shooters. According to some PR buzzwords, the game has “endless levels” and “100 percent virtualized ‘real’ environments.” I supposeThe Binding of Isaacgot away with having randomized levels, but I’ve always preferred shooters to have a sense of place and clear direction with their level design....

This trailer for Kane & Lynch 2 is piquing my interest

I didn’t playKane & Lynch, myself. The reviews more or less convinced me to stay far, far away. But this E3 trailer forDog Daysis making me consider picking it up just to get to know more about the characters. The bit of monologue at the outset has me damn curious too. I’m such a sucker for stylish editing. Of course, that would mean struggling through a host ofirritating gameplay and hideous graphics, from what I’ve been led to believe....

According to their sources,ToeJam & EarlandToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotronare the next titles in the SEGA Vintage Collection series. ToeJam & Earlmight be my favorite game released for the Genesis console, with its randomly generated levels, crazy Earthlings and couch cooperative play. I spent countless hours holed up in a dark bedroom playing it as a teen and I’m greatly looking forward to doing it again without having to drag out the Genesis (or reconnect my Wii; I have a pretty limited number of outlets in here)....

Top 10 best platformers to play on Steam Deck

There’s a reason why platformers – side-scrolling or not – have been around for almost as long as gaming has existed. Peoplelovejumping in video games, so it is a bit obvious that the movement mechanic itself should be worked into a game genre all of its own. And that, indeed, is what this list is all about. If our previousFPS,RPG,racing, andfree-to-playSteam Deck featurettes did nothing for you, that may all be about to change if you’re a fan of platforming....

Toyota’s FT-1 concept car hits Gran Turismo 6 tomorrow

Niiiiiice Are you a car person? It’s so weird talking about cars to someone that isn’t a car person. It’s like when someone talks about football to me. I always just picture a televised game in super fast forward, where the damned ball is just going back and forth, back and forth, showing how silly it all would be with some perspective. But I suppose that isn’t much different than cars going in circles over and over....
