[Update:No longer a rumor, this news hasbeen confirmedby Microsoft’s Major Nelson.] According to everybody’s favorite anonymous sources, Microsoft is about to update its policies regarding Xbox Live Arcade achievements. Currently, achievements are set to a maximum of 20 for a combined 200 Gamerscore points, with an additional 50 points allowed in downloadable content. The new terms would raise these limits to 400 points spread across 30 achievements, with up to eight DLC achievements adding another 100 points....

Xbox One Headset Adapter stalls the release of accessories The Xbox One will not function in tandem with third-party gaming headsets at launch, Turtle Beach has revealed. Contrary toprevious reports, the looming $500 consolewill include a pack-in mono headset. However, those looking to upgrade with alternate stereo audio accessories, such as Turtle Beach’s upcomingXO Ear Forceline, will have to wait until next year. Microsoft has announced the Xbox One Headset Adapter will not be available until early 2014, stalling the release of third-party accessories until then....

As soon as fiction began introducing absurdly powerful heroes, fans started needing to pit them against each other to determine who would win. These battles take place in crossover scenarios that would likely never happen — even if only because that kind of defeats the purpose of them being the good guys. 2K Games suspected of assassinating FPS spin-off Evidence of the long-in-developmentXCOMfirst-person shooter is starting to disappear from the Internet, 2K Games apparently trying to wipe all trace of it from existence. The publisher itself is only offering “no comment” in response to queries. The game’s official website no longer exists, and 2K has removed the trailers from its official YouTube channel. The Grasslands region inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthis where Chadley will give you the opportunity to gain the summon materia for Titan. You must first beat the deity in the combat simulator. Unfortunately, that’s initially very difficult, but if you find the crystals in the region, it can be made easier. It may not be impossible to beat Titan at max difficulty, but it’s quite the challenge. But more importantly, there’s no advantage to doing so....

Out now on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC I’m not currently playingBatman: Arkham Origins‘ multiplayer. Are you? Are your friends? WB Games has release a new mode for the game, and I hope someone’s out there enjoying it. “Hunter, Hunted” is a free addition on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in which three Joker thugs, three Bane thugs, and Batman try to outlast each other with no respawns. As appealing as it is to play as the Caped Crusader, man, talk about pressure....

Atari has announced that the next in line for Sneakybox’s series of remakes isBerzerk: Recharged. The press release says that it will be released “later this year,” which is a pretty small window of time by development standards. Designed by Alan McNeil,Berzerkwas first released in 1980 in arcades, followed by ports on the Atari 2600, 5200, and Vectrex consoles. It was first published by Stern, but Atari proudly bought back the property during a round of acquisitions this year....
