It was a game made by horror fans, for horror fans. Each of the game’s hellish stages contained weapons, enemies, and memorable boss fights that stood out from across the arcade hall. Smashing zombies with a 4-by-4, seeing monsters split in half from a shotgun blast, and witnessing one of the great plot twists of its era is what madeSplatterhousesuch a classic....

Tetsuya Mizuguchi spoke this week at TEDxTokyo, one of a growing multitude of events organized independently from TED, extending the organization’s mission of “ideas worth sharing” to the local level. Kicking off his fifteen minute presentation, we get a couple of minutes of the man himself playing his current project,Child of Eden. Mortal Kombat for PlayStation Vita due out in May

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has scheduled the PlayStation Vita version ofMortal Kombatfor May 1 in North America and May 4 in Europe. As you might recall, the main selling points are the inclusion of characters sold as DLC on consoles, touch-screen functionality, and a second Challenge Tower. No matter where you playMortal Kombat, I’d suggest doing so at some point. I was nothing more than a casual fan of the series going in, but the story mode was remarkably well done to the point where it’s worth recommending the game for that aspect alone....

Naughty Dog snuck a couple cute Easter eggs in the Uncharted 4 trophies

A Thief’s End One of the many reasons I was so impressed withUncharted 4: A Thief’s Endis how, as a generationally-separate tag-along to a trilogy, it deftly puts a cap on the whole thing, while also paying homage to its predecessors. I was just watching the opening cutscene fromUncharted: Drake’s Fortuneand a throwaway joke line about a Panamanian jail suddenly becomes meaningful and filled with import (plus, I think Drake repeats Elena’s “nothing years of therapy won’t fix”)....

New Final Fantasy XIII screens are spicy hot-hot

Here are some brand newFinal Fantasy XIIIscreens to shove down your gullet, courtesy of Japanese magazine/advertiserFamitsu. Check them out, because they look absolutely stunning, asFinal Fantasy XIIIscreens often tend to do. The new screens show off a lot more of Alexander, the latest summon to be revealed by Square Enix. His Gestalt mode sees him switching between his traditional castle to a massive, ball-shattering robot. It’s like Trypticon, but crazier looking....

New screens of Halo 3’s Legendary maps

The new Legendary Map Pack is coming out next Tuesday forHalo 3andBungie has shown offsome new screen shots of some battles taking place in all three maps. Don’t you just hate it when they show off a guy with the flaming head? Anyway, Avalanche looks to be easily my new favorite map ofHalo 3. I’m just really curious as to how balanced this map will be though. I know the Hornet is now gimped, but it could still be a very over powered tool of destruction....

Nintendo boss says Switch supply issues are complicated, deal with multiple components

‘Multiple choke points’ Nintendo, particularly its Japanese arm, is a proud company. I’ve been told several times that they won’t blame others for their failures, or make it clear why things are happening the way they are when there’s a shortage issue (which of course, is a monthly occurence for some Nintendo product). They’re playing it coy with the Switch too, as Reggie explained to The Financial Times when prodded about Switch supply, that “There is not one choke point, there are multiple choke points....

Nintendo sues Nyko over Kama nunchuk controller

I poked a little fun at this controllerback in April, when I insinuated that it looked a bit like a portable vibrator (hot pink FTW). Nintendo were significantly less amused by the offering, apparently, as they have filed a lawsuit against Nyko for the product, marking the first time Nintendo has sued over a Wii accessory. As to the bone Nintendo has to pick, they state that the Kama completely rips off the original nunchuk, down to color, material, shape and design, infringing on their intellectual property rights....

PAX: Tiny Brains will make a big splash

Deviously cute The PAX East booth forTiny Brainsis what lured my three friends and I near. Blue beakers filled with brains, the exhibitors wearing lab coats, and the promise of cooperative play was too much to resist. I am super happy that we stayed, becauseTiny Brainswas an absolute blast. It’s a four-player cooperative puzzle game with some light action elements. Light as in “only one attack button” light. The puzzle element really takes the focus inTiny Brainand it’s incredibly satisfying....
