Some newBulletstormscreens have been made available this morning for our bloodthirsty enjoyment. At least, wethinkthey’re new. It’s so hard to tell, considering every single picture looks like a cavalcade of face-stomping sadism. Who can tell one image of sci-fi torture porn from another? Seriously though,Bulletstormexcites me in my girly parts. The excessive brutality and callous celebration of hyper violence is something that games have been missing for a while. After so many titles that act po-faced and try to be “dark”, it’s refreshing to see that more games are going silly and balls-out lately....

WhileResident Evilisn’t my favorite game-turned-film (that honor goes toSilent Hill), I certainly enjoyed the first film enough to speak positively of it after seeing it. Not being obsessed withResident Evilhowever, I’m sure many details that would have annoyed fans of the series flew over my head. Sadly, the tough chick tactic worked flawlessly on me — I thought Milla was a badass and I wanted more of that. Apparently, I wasn’t alone on that, as theResident Evilfilms did well enough in theaters to make Capcom decide they wanted more opportunities to squeeze money out of their fans....

Ethan Carter remastered in UE 4! [Update:All done! Look out for my review ofOdallustoday. Spoilers: I liked it.] I’ve got some games and can’t possibly play them without someone watching me, so won’t you? The PS4 version ofThe Vanishing of Ethan Carteris out today and has been rebuilt from scratch in Unreal Engine 4. The PC versionwas running on Unreal Engine 3, so hopefully this looks a lot slicker. For those unfamiliar with the game, it is a spooky first-person puzzle adventure title where you play as a detective trying to solve, you guessed it, the vanishing of Ethan Carter....

Nvidia’s RTX Remix is already proving popular with modders, as notable games are being given a new, shiny lease on life. As a result, we’re getting to see things likeGTA,Max Payne, and earlyTomb Raidergames get something of a spit polish, re-entering our collective consciousness. Project Beast? In the weeks leading up to E3, there have been some truly interesting leaks. Please let this be real. Tucked beneath the ruckus regurgitating out of the WiiMusic stands,Rhythm Heaven, the sequel toRhythm Tengoku, sat quietly on its own amidst the other DS games by Nintendo. Composer Yuzo Koshiro’s incredibly memorable themes have been one of my favorite things about theEtrian Odysseyseries over the years. In addition to crafting great melodies, however, Koshiro has always been one to please fans by presenting each of the game’s soundtracks in both their native Nintendo DS and retro FM synthesis formats, the latter of which has always been a real treat. While I’ve always skipped over the NDS version of the soundtrack in favor of the retro FM synthesis one, it looks like that may change withEtrian Odyssey IV....
