Square Enix’s secret new JRPG Project Setsuna is about sadness

Just like my life “Project Setsuna,” an “all-new console project” that’s in development from a brand new studio called Tokyo RPG Factory, was a footnote at Square Enix’sE3 press conference. Project name, concept art, studio. That’s all we knew. Company president Yosuke Matsuda offered Famitsu some extra scraps of information on the 2016 release. Apparently, its theme is “sadness.” Speculation on my part: it stars Tom Waits. Matsuda noted that Tokyo RPG Factory is staffed largely by external developers and freelancers....

Bioware designerWilliam Wallace(amazing!) has just put up ahot blog postexplaining (in great detail) some upcoming mechanical implications forThe Old Republic’sLegacy System. Wallace is pretty comprehensive in his post, as he goes into the entire background of the Skywalker family, even mentioningMara JadeandBen Skywalker....

Super Smash Bros. 3DS won’t support the Circle Pad Pro because of a hardware issue

Limitations abound As everyone knows, the GameCube controller allowed for a certain amount of versalitlty when it came toSmash Bros.games. With the C-stick option, players could use it for quick smash attacks, which was a great thing to have in tricky spots. But with the confirmation that the New 3DS won’t arrive in most regions until 2015, people were wondering if the Circle Pad Pro could take that spot in the meantime — the answer according to producer Masashiro Sakurai is “no....

Taking ‘bury me with my games’ to a whole new level

Instead of leading you on, I’m going to do the kind thing and burst your bubble before you start mapping out elaborate designs for yourPataponcoffin — these don’t really exist. They could, though, thanks to a little site calledCreative Coffinsthat makes enviromentally conscious coffins from cardboard and will design them to your specifications. The mockups were created by the fine people over atT3, and although they may not be real just yet, they did get me thinking — would being buried in a Halo coffin be the coolest thing ever, or permanently confirm for all people present that you were as much of a douchelord in death as you were in life?...

The Ghostrunner demo is quick but well worth your time

A ten-minute dose of cyber-ninja action The wall-running, mid-air-dodging, cyber-ninja parkour demo forGhostrunnerwon’t stick around forever – it’s only playable on Steam until August 11, 2025 – so when you get a chance, play it. I can’t remember the last time a demo sold me so quickly on a game. This afternoon, I went from learningGhostrunnereven exists (3D Realms, Slipgate, and One More Level all have a hand in it) to watching the cinematic trailer (I’ve been in a cyberpunk mood lately) to having a blast with the demo (it feels great and there’s a grappling hook) to wanting to play the full thing....
