Comments of the Week 80 – It’s High Noon!

Promoted from our Community Blogs Did someone say Comments of the Week? No? Well, I just did, so screw you. Welcome back to the community showcase made by the community, for the community! Because don’t forget: none of this would be possible without YOU. Well, that’s not technically true… I could totally feature all MY comments (because, really, who doesn’t love my witty sense of deadpan, sardonic humor?)… but too much of a good thing is bad for you, so I’ll have to limit your consumption of me for your own good....

Detective Pikachu finds another co-star with Rita Ora

Will she play a human, Ora Pokemon? Actress, singer, and TV host Rita Ora will be joining Ryan Reynolds, Justice Smith, Bill Nighy, Suki Waterhouse, and Ken Watanabe in Legendary Entertainment’s 2019 Pokemon film,Detective Pikachu. I have to say the cast for this film is… shockingly impressive. Ora is fresh off finishing up her role as Christian Grey’s sister Mia in theFifty Shadesseries, so it looks like she’s going hard on diversifying her roles....

Dimension Tripper Neptune: TOP NEP is gonna give me a headache

Feel the need for speed January 20 When I was younger, I could watch any amount of dazzling visual effects without any problem. Sitting two inches from the screen playing Super Strobe Master, I was fine. In my later years, however, the old eyes just aren’t what they used to be, with games likeDimension Tripper Neptune: TOP NEPreally bringing that home. Yes, the lovable gals fromHyperdimension Neptuniafranchise are getting set to take the plunge into yet another classic gaming genre, as Neptune and friends take on the classic “into-the-screen” shmup style popularized by titles such as Sega classicSpace Harrier....

Do any of Splatoon’s online shortcomings bother you?

No voice chat still a problem? Splatoonis here, and our review was commented on more thanThe Witcher 3orHatred, which surprised me. People had a lot to say about Nintendo’s newest shooter, and not everything was positive — a lot of folks were bothered by the lack of online options available. As I’ve said before, the lack of voice chat doesn’t really bother me for unranked games, which is where I spend most of my time....

Dota: Dragon’s Blood is worth a watch, even if you don’t play

Do you love me? One of the best things I can say aboutDota: Dragon’s Blood, the latest animated video game adaptation to hit Netflix, is that it’s completely watchable for newcomers. In just eight episodes, it manages to cover a breadth of lore and overcome other adaptations’ stumbling blocks, largely thanks to its characters. Dota‘s impermeability can be a boon, as its mechanical complexity has kept players—myself included—playing for literal decades....
