Due by 2020 Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsudahas some bad news for people expecting a surprise 2017 first chapter release ofFinal Fantasy VII Remake— a slide during a fiscal year presentation has revealed that it’s expected “within the next three years or so.” Marvel also mentions its Marvel IP project (which I totally forgot they had) as something on the horizon. While I could probably wait 20 more years forKingdom Hearts III(all of the algebraic spinoffs and sequels are a pretty good way to pass the time), I’m extremely anxious to see howFinal Fantasy VIIplays out....

Acquire has busted out a new trailer for its ink-filled platformerSumionito accompany the other announcement made regarding the game’s (now official) February 9 release date in Japan. The latest trailer has, like, ink going all over the place and shows how players can utilise the PS Vita’s touch controls to create platforms to jump on or even call upon allies to help kick some ass. You know, most of us are bound to think ofOkamiwhen we watch this trailer, and that’s not a bad thing....

After breaking or being unimpressed with tons of other brands, the Siberia V2 was the first one that really clicked for me. Megamix was reprinted too Earlier this year we reported that theRockman Megamix manga serieswould be getting a reprint in Japan. Now, creator Hitoshi Ariga has moved on to the subsequent Gigamix series, and has also confirmed a reprint for April. Check out the new artwork in the gallery below. Again, if you haven’t checked out either of these, they’re definitely worth picking up in whatever language you prefer. The US editions have become somewhat rare online in recent years, going in and out of stock, but you can still find volumes on the cheap....

[Update:The Croteam member who confirmed the issue has said that the studio may be able to fix everything. A new patch will arrive tomorrow that will attempt to rescue both old and new saves. Fingers crossed!] A small update forSerious Sam 3: BFEwent out today and some users were in for a rather nasty surprise — myself included. The update, which was intended to make minor fixes, has also made a number of saved games unobtainable....

What are we really getting at what cost? Shenmue 3‘s existence is pretty neat. Its presence on a major publisher’s stage show to hock a Kickstarter is less neat, to me. Obviously the $2 million goal (and $3.5 million raised at time of writing) would not be enough forShenmue 3, so there’s word thatSony’s pitching in, but also: “Currently we are planning development only for PC (Windows) and PS4. Other platforms have not been decided yet....

Crystal White is the name of the artist who made thisbrilliant Jonathan Holmes plate. It’s also the name of a new PlayStation Vita color, announced by Sony last night. If you’ve been interested in a Vita, but wanted some aesthetic choice and/or you are racist, then this news should be right up your alley. The white Vita is due out in Japan on June 28, and will be followed by a special Hatsune Miku edition on August 30....

From Platinum to pinball to drinks NieR: Automatadirector and all-around lovable scamp Yoko Taro is the latest subject oftoco toco, a wonderful documentary series that interviews creators in and outside of the video game industry. Since this episode debuted two days ago, I’ve startedAutomata, finished my first playthrough, and am now properly digging into it again — a process I’ll surely repeat at least a few more times. I knew it wasgoing to be good, but as my first Yoko Taro game, I didn’t expect to be quite so enthralled....
