Beyond the Game, a slick-looking documentary about videogames and videogame culture that wecovered on the site before, is currently being filmed and finalized. The independent film has been in development for almost a year and a half, and, while filming is coming to a close, the filmmakers are looking for donations to help them with that much-needed push to the finish line. Full disclosure: I was interviewed for a segment in the documentary a couple weeks ago, but in no way is that my main motivation for promoting the film....

Square Enix breaks the silence Over the holiday break there was a pretty big commotion over some recent comments by Bill Farmer — the voice of Goofy. He noted thatKingdom Hearts IIIwas coming out “sometime this year,”which he soon correctedinto “2015.” He said that “as far as [he] can tell” he was done with his lines, so he assumed the game was almost done. Square Enix countered this week however noting that Bill’s comment was made in error, and that the title “remains unannounced....

As part of today’s bigCall of Duty: Black Ops 4reveal, Activision announced what everyone was kind of expecting for some time: an all new Battle Royale mode, replacing the single-player campaign in the upcoming military shooter. Officially titledBlackout,the mode will drop players into huge maps in typical Last Man Standing gameplay.Blackoutwill feature weapons and characters taken from the campaigns of the entireBlack Opsseries. There’s a new trailer forBloodforge, a game that was revealed a while ago but has been pretty dark since. The footage contains some gameplay, lots of story, and more shouting than you ever could need. AAAAAAH! LOOK AT MY MUSCLES AND MY SKULL HELMET ARRRRRH! The whole thing is a clear nod to300, and it looks unintentionally hilarious. It’s also a pretty promising hack n’ slash game, from the looks of things....

So yeah, I really like this trailer showing off how Lightning can gain new gear, including clothing. Look at that bitchin’ pantsuit! Girl you look good in that purple mini-skirt! Recreate that dopey beach race Good Smile Company have opened pre-orders on the next Nendoroid in theirKingdom Heartsrange.We’ve already had Sora revealed, so I guess one of the next logical steps his friend and rival Riku, the catalyst for most of the originalKingdom Hearts‘ narrative events. Standing a typically Nendoroidian (oh yes) 100mm in height, Riku comes with two faceplates, which appear to be smug af and smugger af, forgoing the usual “grumpy” option that comes with a lot of Nendoroid releases....

The next great Japanese developer is about to make its name known Cygames had a rather unassuming booth at this year’s E3. Actually, “booth” would be the wrong word to describe it. Break the loop Deathloopalways starts back at the beginning. Colt, struck with amnesia, wakes up on a beach with one heck of a hangover and the revelation that time, on this island, is looping. He has a simple objective: to hunt down the Visionaries spread around Blackreef and kill them all in a day, closing the loop in the process. He can wield handguns, nail guns, shotguns, a machete, and a handheld hacking device, all in the name of taking out Blackreef’s partygoers and scholars, but there is one problem larger than the legion of Eternalists between him and his targets: Julianna Blake....

It has demons and stuff…in 3D Can you believeDOOM 3came out eight years ago? To be honest, I feel like it didn’t even really need an HD release. To me it still looks fantastic.
