Pre-orders outnumber those of the highly-successful Mario Kart 8
Super Smash Bros.is going to sell a lot of copies, and give the struggling Wii U a sorely needed boost. Just how big of a boost, though? Nintendo is pretty optimistic.
Speaking withBloomberg, Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime revealed pre-orders for the upcoming fighting game have actually eclipsed those ofMario Kart 8— certainly a good sign.

“The launch ofMario Kart 8has essentially doubled our Wii U sales year-on-year,” said Fils-Aime. “Our expectation is that the sell-through forSmashis going to be very strong, certainly on par with what we saw withMario Kart 8. We think the impact on hardware will be similarly dramatic.
“Consumers buy the hardware so they can play the software,” the meaty executive added. “When you have a robust library of games, that’s when consumers jump in.”
