Galaga is one of those games I just can’t resist when I see an old arcade cabinet. I’m not very good at it, and my game sessions don’t last long, but I still love it. I think it’s a nostalgia thing. A portable version for iPhone sounds like a pretty good idea. Namco thought so, which is probably why they madeGalaga Remix.

Galaga Remixhas the original 1981 classic packed in, but the real attraction is an all new game based onGalaga Arrangement, saystouchArcade. This game has nine power-ups, 36 levels, boss fights, and widescreen game play. Oh, and it looks pretty too (pictured above).

As for the control schemes, it seems that there’s both accelerometer-based and on-screen button controls. Smart, that Namco Bandai.

Galaga Remixshould be hitting the App Store very soon. It will be priced at a reasonable $5.99. For that price, again, I can’t resist.
