The PC port seems to have done the trick
This August saw a familiar face web-zip his way up the NPD rankings. Following a PC port of Insomniac’sMarvel’s Spider-Man, the game shot up to third in the month’s best-selling titles.
As NPD’s Mat Piscatellanotes,Marvel’s Spider-Manmade the leap from 84th in July to 3rd in August. Concurrently,Spider-Manwas the best seller of the month across all tracked Steam titles.

Insomniac’s web-crawler hit the PlayStation in 2018, but the remastered version madethe jump to PCon August 12. And it seems like that jumpwas very successful, both critically and in sales.

While it doesn’t have theMiles Moralescontent yet, the combination of high-end PC features and the potential portability (it is Steam Deck Verified) seems to have worked out well.

Madden NFL 23came in at the top selling spot, which is not a huge surprise asMaddenis a consistent top-seller for its launch month. The newSaints Rowtook the second place in NPD’s top sellers.
Other notables includeHorizon Forbidden West, back on the top 20 with aprice promotionlikely helping out, andSoul Hackers 2debuting at the 15th spot. The PS5 leads the month’s console sales, and is thetop for the yearin dollar sales. The Switch still leads in unit sales for the year, though.

The power of the port
This is another solid PC port debut for Sony, following off others likeGod of War (2018)earlier this year. The sudden re-interest in a game that already sold quite well years ago shows how effective these ports can be.
Tie in the way that Steam Decksseem to be flying out of Valve’s production facilities, and it’s a match made in Spidey-heaven. While afew notables are still missingfrom the PC port bonanza, it does seem like bringing these games over to more players is doing well.

Next up is theUncharted: Legacy of ThievesCollection, which packs togetherUncharted 4andThe LostLegacy, hitting PC onOctober 19.
