Over the past few generations, Nvidia has consistently launched a new generation of GPUs every two years, with the 4000 series arriving in October 2022. Well, we’re due for the RTX 5000 series and while the tech giant is keeping things under wraps for now, it looks like the lid was well and truly popped off recently.
As spotted in a report fromVideocardz, Hong Kong-based manufacturer ZOTAC seemed to have accidentally listed an Nvidia RTX 5090 in a drop-down menu on its website. Not only that, screenshots also show a 5080, 5070 Ti, 5070, and even the Chinese-specific 5090D.
Suffice it to say, it looks as thoughZOTAChas been quick to remove these, so you won’t find them on the website now. However, it does all but confirm that the RTX 5000 series is imminent, as well as giving us a quick glimpse into some of the next generation’s details.
A blunder or a publicity stunt?
As well as showing us a list of what could well be an initial line-up of Nvidia’s next-gen GPUs, the report from Videocardz also shows a couple of screenshots that suggest the 5000 series will have upwards of 32GB of RAM and will run on GDDR7 memory.
Given that theRTX 4090– currently the world’s most powerful graphics card – uses GDDR6X and has 24GB of RAM, we can ascertain that Nvidia will be upping the ante for the 5000 series. Of course, this would make sense for new-gen hardware, so it’s probably not too surprising.
However, we don’t appear to have gotten any confirmation about any of this at the time of writing.Nvidia will be attending CES 2025between January 6 and January 10, so the company will almost certainly be giving us more on the upcoming GPUs during this time. Until then, Jensen Huang and his team may have to do a little bit of damage limitation as these screenshots circulate further.
