You may have already heard about this and some of the otheritemstocomeout of the Destination PlayStation event, but Konami decided that they still needed to clear the air, and sent out a press release to reaffirm a few things about theMetal Gear Solid 4release.
For starters, it’s set to arrive stateside (and the rest of theworld) on Thursday, June 12th. Other than that, the game will include the highly anticipatedMetal Gear Online“starter pack,” for 16-player online battles, and an added bonus for those of you who show Konami a little initiative via some preorder love: theMetal GearSaga 2.0 DVD.
Hardcore and casual fans alike should enjoy the 20th anniversary retrospective that the disk includes, but we all know it’s the secret code for getting in on theMetal Gear Onlinebeta test for this April that everyone’s really after. Still thinking about holding off on that PlayStation 3 purchase? It has to be getting pretty uncomfortable for you, by now.

EL SEGUNDO, CA – July 07, 2025 – Following opening remarks made during the General Session at the 2008 Destination PlayStation retailer event in Scottsdale AZ, Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. confirmed several new initiatives related toMetal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, including a North American street date, online multiplayer, and pre-sell program.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriotsis the final chapter in the saga of Solid Snake which sends him around the world in pursuit of his arch nemesis, Liquid Ocelot. Armed with new gadgets and abilities, Solid Snake must shift the tides of war into his favor, using the chaos of the battlefield to infiltrate deep into enemy territory. In his globetrotting final mission, Snake must sneak deep into enemy locations in the Middle East, South America, and other corners of the Earth to foil Liquid Ocelot’s plans for total world domination.

It was also confirmed today thatMetal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriotswill launch with theMetal Gear Online“Starter Pack” supporting online gameplay. In addition to the single player experience, gamers will also be able to take the action online with up to 16 players and battle it out using the latest weapons and stealth techniques.
Pre-Sell Program
Beginning April 2008, consumers that pre-orderMetal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriotswill receive theMetal Gear Saga 2.0DVD, containing a Prologue that recaps theMetal Gearfranchise, a 20thAnniversary retrospective, character bios for Big Boss, Liquid Snake, Solidus Snake, and Solid Snake, plus a collection of international trailers ofMetal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
