Word of the Intervention sniper rifle’s possible release inMW2andWarzone 2.0comes from some recentdata miningof the PC version of these games. Inside the files for theCoDtitles, there are references to various weapons.

One such weapon is believed by reputable leakers like Task Force Leakers — who have been correct in the past — to be the Intervention. Among other weapons, it seems this one is in development for bothModern Warfare 2andWarzone 2.0.
As for when players might have the chance to check out this sniper rifle in action, it’s currently unknown. All of the possibly leaked weapons are reportedly going to be released betweenSeason 3and the end ofMW2’slife cycle.

Intervention sniper rifle, explained
The Intervention’s possible debut inMW2andWarzone 2.0is notable for a few reasons, including its utility and power. For some players, it is the most iconic and strongest sniper rifle released in the series. There are some veteran players who regard the Intervention as the best sniper rifle in the long-running franchise.
It initially debuted in the originalCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2back in 2009. Given that this latest mainline game is a remake of that title, it seems plausible that this fabled sniper rifle from that entry could return in the near future.

In its original incarnation, the Intervention was the best sniper for that game bar none. It is a hefty bolt-action sniper rifle that is slow to fire but unbelievably powerful with each bullet.
The Intervention is an anti-material rifle that is capable of blasting not just human opponents but vehicles, too. It was featured during a key moments during the originalMW2campaign, and its remastered version. In fact, the gun was so beloved that it returned in two other titles in the series.

Infinity Ward brought the rifle back with its futuristic form inInfinite Warfare, followed by its release inModern Warfare Remastered, a game it wasn’t even originally in.
If it comes back inModern Warfare 2andWarzone 2.0, there are some changes that should happen to make it slightly better. The powerful nature of the weapon should remain, along with its uncanny ability to one-shot opponents through walls.

But it needs to have the ability to either speed up its low rate of fire or have better handling. Either way, stay tuned for a possible announcement of the Intervention gun in the future.
