It probably goes without saying, butthe worldofBaldur’s Gate 3is gigantic. From the Emerald Grove to the Underdark tothe Last Light Innto the titular city of Baldur’s Gate, there are so many people to meet and places to see that it can seem almost daunting.

So we’d like to help make things a bit easier — let’s talk aboutBaldur’s Gate 3’s fast travel mechanic. How does it work, and where are all the various waypoints? It’s actually quite simple, and once you’ve learned the ins and outs of it, you’ll be zipping back and forth, to and fro all over the lands of Faerun!

Baldur’s Gate 3 Waypoint

How to fast travel in Baldur’s Gate 3?

To fast travel inBaldur’s Gate 3, you first need to have unlocked a waypoint. Waypoints are unlocked as you travel the Sword Coast, and a window will pop up acknowledging any time you’ve unlocked one.

As soon as you’ve accessed at least one waypoint, you can open your map and click on the waypoint to be teleported instantly. In some areas, however, fast travel has been restricted, so you’ll have to navigate away from these areas if you are in need of an expedient escape. These restricted areas usually make sense narratively, so as long as you’re making sure to save before big story events, you should be okay.

Act 1 — Faerun Wilderness and Underdark/Mountain Pass

It’s important to note that I count waypoints along the Mountain Pass as part of Act 1, while others may see it as the beginning of Act 2. In playing the PS5 version, the trophy indicating I had reached Act 2 didn’t pop until I departed for the Shadowlands, so I am considering that the beginning of Act 2.
