I’m not the only one on staff who’s down for the metroidvaniaHeart Forth, Alicia. Darren graciously popped into chat today with a gif from the latestbacker updateand I was so enamored, I forgot to cull the post for notable tidbits. Hours later, I’ve finally remembered to go back and do that.

There’s specific talk about what the team has been up to lately — touching up early areas, putting together the final two dungeons, revising character portraits — but the part that stood out to me most was how involved one of the cutscenes is. It has over 17 characters, multiple screen-size effects, fight sequences, deaths, a “minute-long pre-rendered flashback,” and a hot air balloon (!!!).

“There’s still months of work, grinding, and polishing ahead of us, but it’s tremendously rewarding to see years of work slowly coming together,” says designer Alonso Martin. “Knowing we haven’t cut any corners and that we’ve stayed uncompromised towards quality makes me feel a special pride in my heart, and it makes all the stresses, efforts, and sacrifices absolutely worth it.”

That last one is older, but it’s too good not to include.
