At today’s annual developer conference, Google revealed its Nexus 7 tablet, which goes up against Amazon’s Kindle Fire and kind of winks at Apple’s iPad. The big news is that this 7-inch screen Android (running Jelly Bean) device is priced at only $199. It is available for order on Google Play right now, shipping near the middle of next month.
On the gaming side of things, the Nexus 7 uses Nvidia’s Tegra 3 processor for graphics muscle. New quad-core optimized games for this and other Tegra 3 devices were announced at Google I/O today, includingHornandDead Trigger.

In our gallery you can check out some really nice looking screenshots of some of the Tegra 3 games, as well as shots of the new tablet itself. I’m digging the looks ofExZeus2andBladeslinger.
And while we’re on new games for this tablet, Gameloft also announced that 10 of their most popular titles have also been enhanced for the Nexus 7, with 8 of them available today. N.O.V.A. 3 : Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance,Asphalt 7: Heat, andDungeon Hunter IIIare among the supported.

Is this the new portable game system? Would you drop $199 just to get your tablet game on?
