Down. Set. Yuck, yuck, yuck! I’m kidding – don’t beat me up!
That’s not to say that there’s anything wrong withMaddenfans or the games themselves, but GameStop’s planned Monday Night Madness is basically the anti-nerdygamer event. If you’re the type that debates on the superiority ofDragon QuestoverFinal Fantasy, regularly imports Dreamcast games, or writes for a gaming Web site (gasp), you’ll want to steer clear of GameStop’s August 13th event. Trust me, you won’t fit in.

For the rest of you, get out your face paint and your stinky team jersey: It has just been announced that GameStop will hold these Monday Night Madness parties nationwide as a launch event forMadden ’08. These will take the form of tailgate parties, and over 3,000 GameStop and EB Games locations join in on the fun, celebrating the start of the NFL season.
A variety of “football challenges” and aMadden ’07tournament will lead up to the midnight launch of the game.

Most of the locations will kick off the parties at 11:00 p.m., but attendees are encouraged to contact their local store for details.
Me? I can’t even throw a football. I do realize that for every one lanky gaming geek, there’s 10 more hardcoreMaddenenthusiasts, so this could be big. If you manage to make it out to one, snap a few pictures and share with us.
