Old-school goodness

A recentGameSpotinterview with Tim Willits,Quake Championsproject lead, has confirmed that the shooterwill allow for non-champion-based deathmatch in custom games. While that isn’t the same as creating a different game mode without them, it’s still great news for old-school FPS fans.

“We want to make sure we give people what they want. If you create custom game mode, you should be able to set the game up the way you want. If you need to turn off Champions, we’ll let you turn off Champions. That won’t be a problem,” Willits confirmed.

Quake Championshasn’t been given a release date, but it will be a PC exclusive. I can’t imagine playing this on consoles, as the PS2 port ofQuake IIIand even the Xbox 360Quake Arena Arcadewere pretty crappy.
