I hope it’s made of Calpis

Among more than 200 masterfully crafted ice sculptures at Japan’s biggest and most famous Snow Festival in Sapporo, Hokkaido was a scene featuring Cloud and Sephiroth ofFinal Fantasy VII. With so many sculptures every year it’s impossible to tell how many years and which years specifically the game was represented, but the last significant time I can find is from the year it released:1997 (and boy what a video).

Equally reverent of the original title and excited for the in-development remake, the sculpture was brought to life with video from the game played over top of it. I’m always astounded by the sculptures at these shows, but I can never get off work and even if I could plane tickets jump from around 10,000 yen to 60,000 yen round-trip. If they ever make my dream of a life-size sculpture ofFinal Fantasy X‘s Sin come true, I’ll have to splurge.
