Pretty much every facet of this game takes longer to load

Over time players started to collectively notice that inDestiny 2: Forsaken, long times were significantly longer in some cases on consoles. Perhaps it’s a sign of the underlying problems withDestiny 2‘s code (a factor Bungie has brought up multiple times in regards to why the shader deletion feature is taking so long to implement), but either way, Bungie is looking into it.

During their This Week at Bungie recap, Bungie engineer Ben Thompson confirmed that the game does have three hangups: logging in/starting the game, loading into activities, and navigating menus. That three-fold load increase is a problem, but Thompson says that in the upcoming season 5 update, players should see a “significant improvement” for activities.

Thompson says, strangely, that the reason for the loads is because they’ve brought in “new content, bug fixes and patches at a cadence more frequent than they had accounted for,” which has “translated into some unexpected overhead within the code.” That seems to be a very nice way of saying that the code is a giant Jenga Tower.
