With the release of the Mythical Island booster pack inPokémon TCG Pocket, the best new Pidgeot EX deck build has been created. If you were a fan of the normal Pidgeot from the first set, you can now make your deck a whole lot stronger.

How to play the Pidgeot EX deck
Here are the roles and breakdowns for each card in this deck to give you an idea of how to play this deck:
Druddigon
Play this card as a stall wall. Unaware opponents will attack it, inflicting 20 damage to their Pokemon. Smarter players will either attempt to force you to switch or not attack, preserving their Pokémon’s HP.
While stalling, you’re ideally feeding Energies to your Pidgeys and evolving them into Pidgeot EX after 3 turns.
If or when your Druddigon is knocked out before that happens, you’ll hopefully have another one on the bench to further stall. Your main goal is to get Pidgeot EX into play.
Druddigon also does not have a type weakness, meaning you won’t be taking additional damage. However, it’s best to pair this with a Leaf when your HP gets low so you may save your knockout points for two Pidgeto EX cards.
Pidgey, Pidgeotto, and Pidgeot EX
Until you evolve your Pokémon to Pidgeot EX, you’re passively keeping them on the bench and feeding them Energy.
Once you have Pidgeot EX with three Energies, you’re able to then play it to sweep your opponent’s deck. If your opponent has a full bench lined up, you can deal an easy 140 damage per hit.
Even if your opponent has an empty bench, the 80 base damage is still very solid for a Pokémon with 170 HP.
Blue
If you anticipate that your opponent is about to attack you with something big, you’ll play the Blue card. It’ll negate 10 damage during their turn on your ‘mon. This can force them to take a different approach or even switch, making other benched Pokémon an easy target to take down.
Potion
This is just an alternative to Blue. Only use this to top off if you can.
Pokémon Flute
This is a direct buff to your Pidgeot EX because you’re giving it 20 extra damage. If your opponent is playing a limited bench, this can also be the key to a quick victory. If you get a basic Pokemon, you can even one-shot it, especially when paired with a card like Sabrina.
Sabrina
If your opponent is building something big on their end, you can foil their plans by forcing them to switch out their active Pokémon. Say, they need four Energies to get their Pokémon going but only have 3, or they aren’t evolved yet, you can easily ruin that tactic.
Only play this if you see them building up Energy for their backline while their front Pokémon take the initial damage. It’s also a good Druddigon counter if they only have one.
Giovanni
This is kind of a staple for most decks. The 10 extra damage on an attack can be the difference between knocking your opponent’s Pokémon out or not.
Leaf
If your Pokémon are forcefully switched or if you’re close to losing your current attacker, you’ll want to play this. Your Druddigon and Pidgeot will be able to switch without needing or losing any assigned Energy.
Poké Ball
This is another staple to most decks inPokémon TCG Pocket. If your draws aren’t favorable, like not getting your basic Pokémon for evolving or walling, this can help speed up that process.
Professor’s Research
Yet another staple in most decks. If you just need to draw better things to help you in your turn, this is it.
Pidgeot EX build weaknesses
Pidgeot EX is weak to Electric types, so you’re going to struggle against popular decks like Pikachu EX and Zapdos EX.
Luckily, having a Druddigon on hand can soak up early damage that can easily negate any Pokémon type disadvantages.
you may still hold your own against them if you get a strong starting hand. If you build your deck early to get your Pidgeot EX with the right amount of energy, you can still sweep your opponents.
Benefits of a Pidgeot EX deck inPokémon TCG Pocket
This deck does not rely on any coin flips. There is no luck you have to rely on other than what the game gives you in your initial draw and for item card plays.
It’s also very easy to ramp up once you have your basic cards in play. Just build your Energy up on your Pidgeys as your Druddigon(s) take damage. Once they have ramped up, switch them out to prevent knockouts so you’re able to sweep your opponent’s hands.
