How to use Consumable traps in Monster Hunter Wilds

Consumable traps work just like a piece of consumable, and you can equip them from your inventory. Once you have selected the trap, press theSquarebutton, and there will be a brief animation when it’s being set. Once set, your trap is automatically active.

Whether you’re using a Pitfall Trap or a Shock Trap, activation will happen when a monster enters its working radius. The trigger happens automatically, making it perfect for you to stay away and watch the fun from a distance. If you’re unsure about the placement of a Consumable trap, you can pick it up and add it to your inventory.

How to use Environmental traps in Monster Hunter Wilds

The name “Environmental” makes it pretty clear as to how these traps work. They don’t have to be set, and all you have to do is approach them and interact with the button to activate them. You can do the same task from a distance by using your Slinger Hook.

Just like Consumable traps, Environmental traps are activated when a monster is in its radius. However, these traps are harder to activate as you can’t set them beforehand.
