Developer Zeal Game Studios did theoriginalDwarfsgameand are back for more withA Game of Dwarves. The CEO of Paradox Interactive, FreddrickWester, was the one who actually approached Zeal Game to make a newer version, but in 3D and with lots of additional content. The developers thought it was a great idea and so they got working onA Game of Dwarves.

The basic premise is that you control a dwarf army as they have to dig, build, research and defend themselves against enemies. Zeal Games took inspiration from games such asDungeon Keeper, Sim Hospital, MinecraftandThe Simswith their approach to management and creativity to help create the design that would best fitA Game of Dwarves.

The game will give you randomly generated maps with every level in the campaign, both to keep things fresh and to force players to adapt their strategies on the fly. The goal of each scenario is to complete the objectives the King gives you before being able to move on.

There will also be a Skirmish mode where you can build caverns, mines and whatever else suits your fancy all day long without having to worry about meeting any sort of criteria. Currently, the world you can build is huge, but that might change thanks to the limitations brought up with working on consoles.

Zeal wasn’t ready to discuss a multiplayer mode, but they’re interested in it. I think they want to build a solid single-player mode before committing to any multiplayer type stuff.

A Game of Dwarveswill be out later this year for the PC and PlayStation Network.
