Little Inferno scores big sales

Little Infernodidn’t have a lot to help it become a financial success. A fireplace simulator made to parody and critique current trends in videogames isn’t exactly what the big publishers would call “a surefire hit with a huge pre-installed fan base.” Thankfully, word of mouth, positive reviews, and the reputation of the game’s all-star development team seemed to have made up for any lack of marketability. According to the team at Tomorrow Corporation,Little Infernohas currently sold around 250K across all available platforms (PC, Wii U, iOS)....

Look at Lightning’s many outfits in our music video

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Yesterday, while working on our preview ofLightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, I asked those in the office if I should make some kind of quick video to show off some of the costumes I’ve collected in the game. Everyone insisted that I should, so I did. I also asked if I should put together a quick song to go with the video, and I found that Hamza was more than willing to share his lyrical ideas....

Mario made an appearance at the actual Olympic Games

Representing Tokyo Earlier this afternoon, I was joking with my roommate about the closing ceremony for the Rio Olympics that took place this evening. I told him with the summer games heading to Tokyo next, Mario should be in the portion of the show where the next host country makes a small appearance. It made sense to me. After all, Mario and the Olympic Games are no strangers. Nintendo’s world famous mascot has been battling Sonic and friends at these events since 2007....

Mortal Kombat 11 patch hopes to improve fight fluidity (and temper Jacqui’s pogo power)

Less Frequent Flyer Miles for Briggsy In the wake ofthis weekend’s Final Kombat tournament(congratulations SonicFox!) fans ofMortal Kombat 11have been eagerly awaiting a fresh update, bringing a wealth of balance changes and bug fixes to their favourite claret-splashed fighter. Well, NetherRealm Studioshas now released Version 1.17on PS4 and Xbox One and… it’s a start. While it may have been a bit optimistic to imagine that we’d see across the board changes toMK 11– buffing the worst, nerfing the best, fixing match-costing glitches, and reworking an abundance of useless variations – I think many fans, myself included, were still hoping for alittlemore in the way of balance tweaks than what has been delivered....

New Street Fighter IV screens: The warm trickle of info continues

Here are the latest screens ofStreet Fighter IV, the long awaited sequel to the sequel of possibly the most influential videogame of the 1990s. These screens come courtesy of the French, and unlikethe screens previously postedby a certainBrazilian blogger, these probably were not stolen fromElectronic Gaming Monthly. How did the Frenchies get these screens? Beats me. But these screens sure do look purty, and in my opinion have more polish than those we’ve seen thus far....

Noel Gallagher: ‘Brutal’ games caused UK riots

While pundits and bloggers around the world discuss the socioeconomic problems that might have led to last week’s nationwide rioting in the United Kingdom, former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher has apparently cracked the case all by himself — discovering the videogames were to blame! “I can’t understand where their energy for these riots is coming from,” said the former cokehead. “We live in this age of violence — and I don’t care what other people say: Brutal TV and brutal video games are a reason for this pointless violence as well … The people are immune to violence, they are used to it....

Pegasus Knight Cordelia is the best thing Fire Emblem Warriors has shown us to date

Still coming later this year Fire Emblem Warriorsisn’t in my most anticipated list for this year per se, but I’m keeping one of my eyes on it (it’s straining!). I’m a little worried about the ability of the 3DS version to keep up with its console counterpart, but given that they’re actually making it exclusive to the New 3DS it’s a little more promising thanHyrule Warriors, which ran sluggishly on older models....
